5 Delicious Fruits to Have in Summer
Introduction
It’s that time of the year again where the temperature gets warmer, and the sun shines brighter; summer is finally among us. With a new season of heat and sunshine, comes a new season of fruit! We decided to make a list of the best 5 summery fruit to have in England!
Mangos
Mangoes are my personal favourite fruit. Their peel is bright orange in colour, and the flesh can range from yellow to orange. They’re usually eaten sweet but, dependent on the variant, can be quite tangy. Considering how large they can be, they’re quite low in calories. Mangoes have a high Vitamin C, which protects cells and maintain healthy skin, blood vessels, bones and cartilage. They also help promote healing wounds!
Cherries
Cherries are a small, round and red fruits that usually have a pit inside. They’re a little bit sweet and a little bit tart. Cherries are quite low in calories, which make them perfect for snacking on. The high amount of fibre in the fruit helps boost the digestive system, and the antioxidants help protect cells by fighting free radicals in the body. It also contains vitamin A, which helps with seeing in the dark, and boosting the immune system. They also contain a large amount of Vitamin C.
Watermelons
Watermelons are probably one of the most consumed summer-fruits. They are 92% water, which is the reason why they are so refreshing. They are native to Africa and are red and juicy. The rind can be eaten, though quite bitter. They’re rich in Vitamins A and C as well as K, which helps your blood clot normally. Additionally, they are rich in Fibre and Potassium; the latter helping in keeping your body-fluids balanced.
Peaches
Native to China, Peaches are a type of Stone Fruit. They’ve got a fuzzy skin with a very sweet flesh. They’re a good source of Vitamins A and C, as well as Antioxidants. Peaches have been linked to lots of health benefits, including reduced inflammation and improved heart health. Since Peaches are low Calories, they are perfect for those in weight-loss diets.
Lychee
Lychees are a tropical fruit native to China. They’re very small and usually round (or ovular). They have a reddish/brownish peel with a bumpy texture, which shields the white flesh inside. It’s quite sweet and Juicy, and perfect for snacking on. Lychees have a high amount of Vitamin C and A in them, as well as fibre.
To Conclude
And there you have it. By no means are these the top 5 for any particular reason, they're just 5 really popular fruits in summer, that I've personally picked it (cause I love them too!).
